  2. This man took the life of a loving father. His daughter will never again know the sound of her fathers voice, the excited look on his face when she enters the room, her first day of school, and countless other memorable moments of their life together. And his only charge is a gun charge. They gave Michael Vick time for cruelty to animals. Has Dennis' life been reduced to less than that of an animal? You be the judge. Thankfully man is not the final judge!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Hey. I am a lawyer. I don't know all of the facts of this case, but when people get charged with manslaughter rather than first or second degree murder, it's usually because the state cannot prove premeditation. Murder requires premeditation. Manslaughter doesn't.

Also, the age of the defendant and lack of prior record probably factored in. Also, it there was probably a fight going on between the victim and the defendant. Who started it is unknown from the news article I read. And who knows what the witness said. She might have given a statement that made it hard to prosecute for murder.

So - it sounds bad, but there are probably just a lot of facts that we don't know.
