A source close to the investigation said Hinkle does not face murder charges because he may have been attacked and likely acted in self-defense. The case has been referred to the Prince George's County state's attorney's office.

Kyree is survived by his parents, Kecia Simms and Efrem Powell; sister, LaQueda Tate; devoted friend, Mikel Downs; and a host of relatives and friends. He was eagerly anticipating the birth of his daughter, Kyien Mekka Simms. Visitation will be on Monday, April 4, 2011 from 9 a.m. until time of service, 11 a.m. at Park Road Community Church, 1019 Park Road, N.W. Interment National Harmony Memorial Park.
